    Drivers are facing yet another price hike ahead of the summer season. Fuel prices in Croatia have risen again, which could directly drive up the cost of vacations. The price increase is particularly significant for diesel.

    Following a decision by the Croatian government, regulated fuel prices rose again starting Tuesday: the price of gasoline increased by four cents per liter, and diesel by 12 cents; the new prices will remain in effect for two weeks.

    According to a decision made at Monday’s cabinet meeting, the price of gasoline will rise to 1.66 euros per liter (about 644 forints), and diesel to 1.85 euros per liter (about 718 forints). The price of blue diesel used in agriculture will increase by 17 cents, to €1.36 per liter (about 528 forints).

    At the same time, the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will decrease:

    • the price of tanked LPG will be 1.94 euros per kilogram (about 753 forints), a decrease of five cents,
    • while the price of bottled LPG will drop by six cents to 2.51 euros per kilogram (about 974 forints).

    According to the government, without these measures, the price of gasoline would be 1.76 euros (about 683 forints), diesel 2.06 euros (about 799 forints), and blue diesel 1.42 euros (about 551 forints) per liter.

    The cabinet adopted two decrees: one regarding the extension of the reduction in excise tax on fuels, and the other regarding the setting of maximum retail prices for fuels. Prices are calculated based on the average price of fossil fuels over the previous 14 days, with a specified retail margin.

    In Hungary, the government has announced that it is not complying with the European Commission’s request to abolish protected fuel prices, stressing that shielding Hungarian families from rising energy costs remains a top priority.
