It is important that everyone understands: just as in 2025, we will not allow a single migrant to enter Hungary in 2026, nor will we pay a single forint from the pockets of Hungarians for migrants from other countries, Foreign and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó wrote on Facebook on Sunday morning.
It may seem a long way off, but one of the biggest battles of 2026 will be the Hungarian uprising against the migration pact that will come into force in Brussels in the summer, in the the minister’s view. He added: On paper, this regulation is intended to “make the European asylum system more efficient,” but in practice it would mean nothing less than a dilemma for Hungary: either pay or accept.
It is perfectly clear that we will not let a single migrant in – they know that too – but it is downright absurd that they want to force us Hungarians to pay in connection with migration,”
wrote Péter Szijjártó. We, who have built a fence at our own expense and have been protecting the Union’s external borders for more than ten years. We, who are currently being fined 1 million euros every day just because we do not allow migrants into our country, the minister noted.
Péter Szijjártó pointed out that no measures had been taken to the west of us and that it was not possible or desirable to protect oneself from migrants. These are countries where the security situation has deteriorated so much that social structures are breaking down, and that is why they now want to rid themselves of migrants under the migration pact.
We say no to this (again) in 2026 and predict already now: Hungary will not implement the measures of the migration pact.We do not want migrants, we do not want parallel societies, and we do not want to spend the Christmas holidays under the threat of terrorism,”
said the chief diplomat, adding: “That is who we are”.
But we should not be under any illusions: Brussels’ puppets would not do that; they would allow Hungary to become a country of immigration too. The TISZA party and the Democratic Coalition supported the Brussels migration pact, but now they are keeping a low profile, Péter Szijjártó wrote. Thus we turn to the year 2026. Next year, we will need all the strength of the Hungarian people, because Brussels wants to push ahead with the settlement of migrants in Hungary, which only the national government can prevent, the minister concluded.
