    Dr. Marcin Romanowski, former Polish Deputy Minister of Justice
    “The mechanism of Brussels’ blackmail—used especially around elections in EU Member States—is not particularly subtle: destroy any country, any political force that threatens their corrupt arrangements, their ideological obsessions, and the concentration of power in Brussels,” Dr. Marcin Romanowski, former Polish Deputy Minister of Justice and political refugee residing in Hungary, stated in a Facebook post.
    The Polish politician, who fled to Hungary a year ago after charges were brought against him by the Polish judiciary, and was granted asylum by the Hungarian government, believes that what the world is still witnessing today in relation to Hungary, Poland has already experienced before, namely the conditioning of European funds on political submission.

    he emphasized, continuing: “Rule of law becomes a club used for threats, while financial resources are turned into instruments for forcing a change of government or political course. In Poland, this blackmail proved politically effective in 2023—but by 2026, many of those who gave in to it can see that it was catastrophic for the state and for the economy. And that through blackmail and manipulation, globalist Brussels elites stole free elections from the Polish people. “

    Today, exactly the same scheme is being applied to Budapest—with one crucial difference: Hungary can observe how badly this ended for Warsaw.”

    The former Polish Deputy Minister of Justice believes the “rule of law” mechanism is merely a slogan, the real stake is power. Reflecting on Poland’s internal affairs, the politician argued that the current government has failed to deliver on its promises, instead ruling over economic failures, high taxes, and rising energy costs, while allowing large amounts of public money to leave the country. He presented Donald Tusk’s government as a poor example to the Hungarian people:

    This is the lesson for Hungary: Brussels’ blackmail does not end in prosperity. “European normality” and the “smiling country” turn out to mean the loss of citizens’ influence over their own state, incompetence and lawlessness of those in power, and crude political theft—exactly as in Poland,”

    he concluded.

    Fact

    Dr. Marcin Romanowski is not the only Polish politician granted refugee status in Hungary. Waldemar Zurek, the current head of the Ministry of Justice, initiated a motion in parliament to suspend former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro’s immunity, and requested the approval of the politician’s pre-trial detention. Ziobro, a member of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, faced criminal proceedings in connection with the so called Justice Fund, which operates under the Ministry of Justice: he is accused of abuse of office and dereliction of duty, a total of 26 criminal offenses. Since then, the former Minister of Justice has been staying in Hungary and has now been granted political asylum.

    Recently, the Warsaw District Court has revoked the European arrest warrant against Dr. Marcin Romanowski. However, a Polish national arrest warrant remains in force.
