A federal jury convicted a federal immigration officer Thursday who had been accused of using his gun and badge to commit violent sexual assaults of four women in Chicago's suburbs in 2022.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Luis Uribe faces a potential life sentence after being convicted of 10 counts of deprivation of civil rights under color of law and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

Uribe offered no obvious reaction in the courtroom while the verdict was being read, listening with his hands clasped at the defense table. But when he was taken back into a court lockup, he told someone in the courtroom to "take care" of his family. He has been in federal custody since his arrest late last year.

U.S. District Judge Jorge Alonso set sentencing for Jan. 21.

A grand jury handed up an indictment against Uribe in December 2025, in the waning days of the Operation Midway Blitz deportation campaign. However, the allegations against Uribe had no connection to the Trump administration effort that rocked the Chicago area.

Rather, prosecutors accused Uribe of attacking four women in Schaumburg and Naperville between February and October 2022. They said he was even offered free sex if he ended his assaults.

Defense attorney Michael Clancy told jurors that Uribe was set up by a prostitution ring overseen by a boss in China. Uribe even took the witness stand, admitting he’d visited prostitutes and hid it from his wife. But, he insisted, he “never raped anybody.”

Still, when a prosecutor asked him whether he’d used “physical fitness time” to get away from work for an alleged attack, Uribe quipped in front of the jury that he “got a good workout in.”

“You’re describing the rape … as a good workout?” Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Shih asked during cross-examination.

“It wasn’t a rape,” Uribe shot back. “It was consensual sex.”

Uribe, 45, has been held in federal custody since his arrest in December 2025, and his trial began Sept. 8. He’d been assigned to O’Hare Airport at the time of the incidents.

Jurors heard detailed accounts from Uribe’s alleged victims. However, confusion reigned at times. The women were Chinese immigrants who spoke little English and testified with help from an interpreter. At times, they contradicted each other.

One woman described an attack at a Schaumburg Days Inn, which began with a man rushing into her hotel room after knocking on her door. The woman said he showed a badge, put it on a table with a gun, and demanded her money.

Then, she said, he forced her to perform oral sex, pulled her to the bed and raped her.

“I was terrified,” she said. “He had a gun.”

Jurors also heard from a woman who denied that Uribe ever harmed her. Rather, she said she was dispatched by a boss in China in 2022 to secure a photograph of Uribe, to be distributed to warn her community about him. She said she also delivered a message to Uribe from her boss.

The message, she said, “was asking him not to harm our girls — and we agree to provide free sex to him once per week.”

The woman said she met with Uribe at the Royal Buffet in Hoffman Estates, where a friend of hers took his photograph. After the meeting, she said Uribe followed them to a hotel and had sex with two other women for free.

That woman admitted she’d lied in the past about who joined her at the meeting in Hoffman Estates and that she’d failed to tell the feds about multiple encounters she’d had with Uribe.

Uribe denied that he ever had sex with a prostitute for free. He told jurors that the woman threatened to set him up if he didn’t help her and her boss with their immigration issues.
