At the United Nations Security Council meeting, Russia and China have opposed a UN resolution to open the Strait of Hormuz.
US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz warns of the harm this does to the economy.
“No one should tolerate that they are holding the global economy at gunpoint, but today Russia and China did tolerate it,” Mr Waltz said.
“They sided with a regime that seeks to intimidate the Gulf into submission even as it brutalises its own people during a national internet blackout for daring to imagine dignity or freedom.”
