Former US ambassador David Hale warns Israel faces an uncomfortable choice over a ceasefire, amid concerns Hezbollah could use any pause to regroup and resume the conflict under more favourable conditions.
“For the Israelis, it's a big move on their part if they want to cease unilaterally … what will be happening in Lebanon while they are not fighting?” Mr Hale told Sky News Australia.
“The fear is that every time this has happened before, Hezbollah will use any pause to rearm and reorganise itself to resume the battle.
“It's a tough call for the Israelis.
“It's not the end of the story here.”
