Satellite images prove that there are no technical obstacles to restarting the Druzhba (Friendship) oil pipeline, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a social media post on Monday.
“Satellite images do not lie. The Friendship oil pipeline has not been damaged. President Zelenskyy must stop the blackmail, act immediately, and restart oil deliveries to Hungary,” the Prime Minister stated on X, attaching two satellite images of the Brody pumping station.

Shortly before, the head of government announced on on social media that the satellite images would be published “so that everyone can see them.”
In a video posted earlier on X, the politician said that
Monday morning began with a national security meeting, where he received a detailed report on the attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline and the condition of the pipeline.
Based on the satellite images and operational information available to the government, it is clear that the Druzhba oil pipeline is operational, and it has also been established that the attack did not directly affect the pipeline, hence there are no technical obstacles to restarting it, he emphasized.

“We once again call on President Zelenskyy to restart the Druzhba pipeline and allow Hungarian and Slovak inspectors to enter in order to resolve the dispute.
We will maintain our countermeasures until the Ukrainians restart oil deliveries. What President Zelenskyy is doing is nothing less than blackmailing Hungary. But Hungary will not give in, and we will break the oil blockade,”
the Prime Minister said.
András László, Fidesz MEP, reacting to the published images, stated on X: „Hungary is not like Germany, Denmark or Sweden.” Referring to the Nord Stream explosion in 2022, he wrote that when Zelenskyy “sabotaged” the Nord Stream pipeline, the affected countries „stayed silent.” In contrast to them, the Hungarian MEP pledged to expose what he described as “Zelenskyy’s energy sabotage.”
He accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of interfering in crude oil deliveries to Hungary and Slovakia, and of using energy supplies for political leverage.
We will not pretend that his energy blackmail is morally acceptable or justified by war efforts,”
he stated.

According to the post, Zelenskyy’s claim that oil transit was halted due to pipeline damage in Ukraine is “simply a lie.” András László argued that the recently published “images prove that the pipeline carrying crude oil towards Hungary and Slovakia were not damaged. Transit could resume.”
The MEP recalled that Zelenskyy had “threatened to suspend deliveries to Hungary already last year.
He has now done it for political reasons despite the fact that in the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement Zelenskyy clearly committed to not endangering the energy security of EU countries.”
The Hungarian politician emphasized: “Now, he is doing exactly that only weeks ahead of the Hungarian general elections. His hope is to cause chaos and an energy crisis to interfere in the elections and help our leftist opponents who refuse to comment on this issue.”
András László also criticized the European Commission, arguing that it had failed to carry out an independent assessment of the pipeline’s condition. He further claimed that Ukraine’s President had not permitted international observers to examine the infrastructure, suggesting that this could not simply be attributed to “coincidence.”
