‘Already underway’: Expert warns world is ill-prepared for AI displacing workers 2026

Technology communications expert Dex Hunter-Torricke says there is “no doubt” workers will be displaced as AI continues to advance.

“It is already underway in particular sectors in many other industries,” Mr Hunter-Torricke told News24.

“If we want graduates or young people or anyone else, for that matter, to have good-quality jobs 10 to 15 years from now, you would have to be putting in place a whole bunch of things right now in transforming our education system, reskilling workers to ensure that we get the success 10 to 15 years from now.

“There’s no evidence we’re even having that mainstream conversation at the level we need.”
