World music groups, dance parties for all ages, children’s programs, film screenings with live music, film-concert events, emerging and experimental electronic music artists, and street dance performances await visitors at the House of Music Hungary outdoor stage, opening on Saturday.
On May 9, the House of Music’s “City in the House” series returns: this time the focus will be on the western Hungarian city of Sopron. During the open-air stage’s opening weekend, among the performers will be the Fajkusz Band, Sonny and His Wild Cows, the Petőfi Band, the organizers announced.
During this year’s outdoor season, jazz pianist Botond Őri-Kiss—who collaborates with Chapelier Fou and Sándor Csoóri Jr.—will perform on the institution’s outdoor stage, and the band Várhegyutca, one of the winners of the House of Music’s first Fringe call for entries, will present its latest album there. The selected acts from the 2025 Fringe program’s “On Stage!” and “Hats Off!” categories will also perform on the outdoor stage during this season.
The familiar program series continue: Dance House in the Open Air on Thursdays, Salsa in the Park every month from May through August, and a new dance series titled “Dance in the Open Air – Taste of Swing” will also launch. The Vibe Changers series, which launched four years ago at the House of Music and combines talent scouting with improvisational evenings, will begin its fifth season in May.
The “Music for Silent Films” series, which presents classic films with live music, will continue, and the “Cinema in the Open Air” screenings and the House’s Saturday morning children’s programs will also move outdoors starting in July.
Among the largely free programs, May 23 will feature “DJ Palotai Day”, a tribute to the father of Hungarian electronic music, Zsolt Palotai, where the audience can hear sets by Tilos Radio’s most popular DJs as well as up-and-coming, emerging artists.

On June 13, the spotlight will be on the street dance subculture for a day: the “We Got the Vibes” event is aimed at both the local and international communities, as well as those who are just getting to know this world. On May 30, fans of psychedelic rock can enjoy a concert by a twelve-member supergroup at the Psychedelic Source Records label night, featuring a selection from the past ten years of this collective, known primarily for its jam sessions.
Dokkerman and the Turkeying Fellaz invite you on a similar journey on June 11: the nine-piece band guides you into the world of deep funk, with a touch of Afrobeat and Ethiopian influences.
The program will also feature exciting world music performances, including Bobo & Behaja from France and Madeira on June 12, and Muslim Shaggan from Pakistan four days later. There will also be a good number of classical music concerts.
In the second half of the summer, several events will celebrate Romani music and culture, including a two-day Romano World Music and Dance Festival co-organized with Romano Drom, and a large-scale concert in August to mark International Romani Song Day.
