    Hong Kong

    Six new research projects will launch through a collaboration between the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), following evaluation of their joint pilot call, the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network informed MTI on Tuesday.

    The announcement noted that the call for proposals, announced in March, is based on an agreement signed by CUHK and HUN-REN on November 19, 2025. Its strategic objective is to support collaboration among researchers and launch joint projects that lay the foundation for long-term, sustainable collaborations that are significant on an international level.

    As noted, the Hong Kong university, which employs more than 8,000 researchers and faculty members, is internationally recognized for its research in medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), engineering, and translational biomedicine.

    Based on the announcement, the call for proposals prioritized joint projects in the fields of medical and health sciences, AI, and energy research. Thirteen formally eligible proposals were submitted in response to the call, of which six projects received funding.

    The winning projects address issues related to healthy aging, artificial intelligence, sustainable energy storage, and precision medicine.

    The call was implemented as a co-financed initiative, with a maximum of 150,000 Hong Kong dollars (approximately 6.4 million forints or about 17,800 euros) available per project, split 50-50 between the Chinese University of Hong Kong and HUN-REN.
