This year’s Researchers’ Night, taking place Friday and Saturday, will feature more than 2,100 programs nationwide. The event welcomes visitors in over 60 towns and cities, across approximately 200 institutions, universities, and research centers.
Béla Kardon, scientific director of the Regional Center for Information and Scientific Development and the event’s main organizer in Hungary, announced the details at a press conference in Budapest on Tuesday.
Among the standout events, Kardon highlighted a lecture at Eötvös Loránd University’s Faculty of Humanities examining the background of climate change denial, and a musical fashion show and discussion titled “Tradition, Fashion, Identity—Roma Women’s Culture in the 21st Century,” hosted at the University of Debrecen in Nyíregyháza. Other notable programs include a presentation on geothermal energy at Gál Ferenc University’s Faculty of Economics in Békéscsaba, and a lecture on “Motion Tracking and EEG in the Invisible Maze” at the HUN-REN Research Center for Natural Sciences in Budapest. Visitors can also expect presentations on hydrogen technology, crystals, satellite communications, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
Among the highlights, Ericsson Hungary is hosting nearly 60 programs at its Tuesday event. The lineup includes a cybersecurity escape room, hobby showcases by researchers, and sessions on the future of 6G networks.
“Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the future of 6G networks, engage with our researchers, and explore our innovations,” said Benedek Kovács, Director of Science and Innovation at Ericsson Hungary’s R&D Center.
The event offers additional exciting programs across the country—here are a few highlights:
- Over 130 programs at HUN-REN institutes: Visitors can explore everything from quantum computers to the science behind the northern lights (aurora borealis) through 133 specialized programs at the institutes of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Center.
- Attosecond lasers in Szeged: The ELI ALPS institute will open its doors for guided tours, allowing visitors to see equipment capable of generating attosecond light pulses—the fastest time scale in physics.
- VR heart simulations in Kaposvár: At the Kaposi Mór Hospital, attendees can use VR headsets to simulate heart ultrasounds and CPR, while also witnessing modern CT scanners in action.
- Interactive programs at Budapest universities: Highlights include an “Accounting Escape Room” at Corvinus University, ASMR workshops at ELTE, drone and robot demonstrations at Gábor Dénes University, and spectacular scientific experiments at Semmelweis University.
- Practical science at the Debrecen International School: Visitors can try out various experimental methods, examine samples, and learn how modern technology supports data recording and scientific observation.
