No. 1 Mount Carmel at No. 4 Brother Rice

7:30 p.m. Friday: It’s rivalry week in several conferences around the area, and this is a big one for South Side bragging rights. Mount Carmel (4-1, 1-0 Catholic League Blue) leads the all-time series 43-29, but the teams have split the last 14 games. Both are loaded with Power Four prospects. The Caravan’s headliners include receivers Quentin Burrell (Michigan) and Marshaun Thornton, offensive lineman Chase Clark (Purdue), linebacker Roman Igwebuike (Notre Dame), defensive back Tavares Harrington (Michigan) and defensive linemen Darin Graham (Wisconsin) and Caleb Tucker. Brother Rice (3-2, 0-1) counters with defensive linemen Brayden Parks (Notre Dame) and Kam McGee, safety Jonathan Harrris (Iowa) and tight end Jack McNamara. Senior Rocco Galasso and freshman Sam Holcomb have been a productive quarterback combo.

No. 16 Geneva at No. 6 Batavia

7 p.m. Friday: One of the state’s oldest rivalries, dating back to 1912, and likely the best documented, thanks to the ongoing efforts of Batavia historian George H. Scheetz. Geneva (4-1, 3-0 DuKane) leads the series 52-50 with five ties, but Batavia (4-1, 3-0) has won 14 of the last 15 meetings. Both teams have elite passing games this year. Batavia’s Michael Vander Luitgaren, a Wyoming commitment, has completed 77% of his passes for 1,509 yards and 19 touchdowns. Darin Ashiru (39 receptions, 594 yards, five touchdowns) is his top target. Geneva’s Ben Peterson (Eastern Michigan) has thrown for 1,607 yards and 19 touchdowns with 70% accuracy, and Bennett Konkey (Illinois) has 40 catches for 886 yards and 12 touchdowns.

No. 22 Providence vs. Fenwick

7 p.m. Friday at Triton: Class 5A top-ranked Providence (4-1, 1-0 Catholic League Orange) is looking for its first win under interim coach Adam Nissen, who was in charge for last week’s loss at Nazareth after the firing of Tyler Plantz. Senior Broden Mackert is one of the state’s top running backs. Iowa commit Jake Thies of Fenwick (4-1, 0-1), a defensive back and running back, is among the state’s best two-way players. Junior Myles Hill is an effective dual-threat quarterback for the defending 6A state champs.

Morgan Park vs. Simeon

1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rockne: With Gately Stadium being renovated, this South Side rivalry was relocated to the West Side. Morgan Park (4-1, 2-0 Public League Red Star) has the Public League’s top prospect in senior defensive back Darrell Mattison, an Ole Miss commit. Quarterback Ronald Smith Jr. and running back Will Smith Jr. are a pair of impact players on offense for the Mustangs. Simeon (1-4, 1-1) has a bright future with the sophomore pitch-and-catch duo of quarterback Aki King and receiver Jalonny Billingsley, while defensive linemen Corey Randolph (Boston College) and Brian DeMoss and running back James Bell are top senior prospects.

No. 23 Wheaton North at Wheaton-Warrenville South

7 p.m. Friday: Wheaton North (5-0, 2-0 DuKane) has been one of the year’s biggest surprises. A big reason is the play of senior tight end/linebacker Adam Schilling, whose 2025 season was cut short by a knee injury. Senior running back Mac Murray also has been an impact player. Three-sport standout AJ Rogers has put up big numbers for Wheaton-Warrenville South (3-2, 1-1), throwing for 1,382 yards and 10 touchdowns.
