The Bears are up 20-14 on the Patriots at halftime Thursday thanks mainly to some big plays by wide receiver Luther Burden and a timely interception by linebacker D’Marco Jackson.
They had a chance to go into halftime up 20-7 and getting the ball to begin the third quarter, but squandered that with a sloppy final play. With three seconds left, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye dumped the ball off to running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who ran to the end zone for a 48-yard touchdown.
Burden is at 130 yards and a touchdown on just four catches, and quarterback Caleb Williams has completed 9 of 16 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown for a 113.3 passer rating.
Jackson ended the Patriots’ best threat at scoring touchdown by picking off a pass from Drake Maye in the end zone.
The Bears jumped to a 10-0 lead by overwhelming the Patriots on both sides of the ball.
The Patriots’ opening drive ended on fourth-and-five at the Bears’ 45-yard line when nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon — Who else? — blitzed to sack Drake Maye. Gordon had three sacks Sunday against the Falcons in his season debut and leads all NFL defensive backs for the season.
Williams followed immediately with a 26-yard pass to Luther Burden to put the Bears in scoring position, and they eventually settled for a 43-yard field goal by Cairo Santos. He and Burden struck again on a 58-yard pass late in the first quarter to set up D’Andre Swift’s four-yard touchdown run.
The Bears get the ball to begin the second half.
Here are the Bears’ inactives for the game:

RB Kyle Monangai (thumb, toe)
OL Jordan McFadden
